System Settings

You can configure the settings for SMS, SMTP, POP3/IMAP, Syslog, SNMP, HTTP services in this page.

1. SMS settings

Navigate to System Settings > SMS tab

  • Cellular Modem: Select the appropriate modem type. For non-cellular Varius Message Router, select “None”.
  • Allow Inbound SMS: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to retrieve incoming SMS messages. 
  • Allow Outbound SMS: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to send SMS messages.
  • SMS Sending Parameters
    Configure these settings only on the advice of Varius Message Router support team.
    • CMGS Delay 1: Delay before sending an SMS message.
    • CMGS Tries: Number of tries to send an SMS message.
    • CMGS Timeout: Duration to wait for a response from the cellular modem when sending an SMS message.
    • CMGS Delay 2: Delay before submitting the message.
    • Message Submit Timeout: Duration to wait for a response from the cellular modem when message is submitted.
    • CSQ timeout: Duration to wait for a response when checking signal strength after message sending failed.
    • CSQ Delay: Delay after checking signal strength.

Click “Save” to save the information.

Note: Restart the VMR service for any changes done.

System settings for SMS

2. SMTP settings

Navigate to System Settings > SMTP tab

  • Run Internal SMTP Server: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to receive incoming email messages.
  • Server Port: The SMTP port for the internal SMTP server.
  • Authentication Needed: If this option is enabled, a licensed user’s login name and password will be used for authentication by the internal SMTP server.
  • Use SSL/TLS Encryption: Select the appropriate security setting for the internal SMTP server.
  • Allow Outbound SMTP: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to send email messages.

Click “Save” to save the information.

Note: Restart the VMR service for any changes done.

3. POP3 / IMAP settings

Navigate to System Settings > POP3/IMAP tab

  • Run Internal POP3 Server: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to maintain user mailboxes using the internal POP3 Server. 
  • Server Port: The port for the internal POP3 server.
  • Use SSL/TLS Encryption: Select the appropriate security setting for the internal POP3 server.
  • Allow Outbound POP3/IMAP: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to connect to external POP3 / IMAP mailboxes. This option is required for the Email Poller feature.
  • Message Poll Interval: The interval to retrieve emails using the Email Poller.

Click “Save” to save the information.

Note: Restart the VMR service for any changes done.

4. Syslog settings

Navigate to System Settings > Syslog tab

  • Run Internal Syslog Server: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to receive incoming syslog messages. 
  • Server Port: The port for the internal Syslog server.
  • Allow Outbound Syslog: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to send Syslog messages.

Click “Save” to save the information.

Note: Restart the VMR service for any changes done.

5. SNMP settings

Navigate to System Settings > SNMP tab

  • Run Internal SNMP Trap Server: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to receive inbound SNMP Trap messages. 
  • Server Port: The port for the internal SNMP Trap server.
  • SNMPv3 Credentials: Manage the credentials for SNMPv3.
  • Allow Outbound SNMP Trap: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to send SNMP Trap messages.

Click “Save” to save the information.

Note: Restart the VMR service for any changes done.

6. HTTP settings

Navigate to System Settings > HTTP tab

  • Run Internal HTTP Service: Enable this option to allow applications to connect to Varius Message Router’s URL to send messages.
  • Allow Outbound HTTP: Enable this option to allow Varius Message Router to send HTTP messages like connecting to a URL.

Click “Save” to save the information.

Note: Restart the VMR service for any changes done.

7. Other settings

Navigate to System Settings > Others tab

  • Default System Email Address: The email address for system administrator. 
  • Debug Verbose Mode: Enable this option for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Keep Message Logs For: The retention period for inbound and outbound messages.
  • Keep Sensor Logs For: The retention period for sensor logs.
  • Log Sensor Data Every: The interval to save sensor readings to the sensor logs.

Click “Save” to save the information.
