Syslog Profiles

A Syslog profile contains details of a Syslog server that Varius Message Router sends Syslog messages to.

1. Manage Syslog profiles

Navigate to Outbound Profiles > Syslog.

  1. View profile
    Select a profile from the “Profiles” dropdown list to view its details.
  2. Add profile
    Fill in new profile details and click “Insert” to add a new profile.
  3. Edit profile
    Select a profile and fill in its details. Click “Update” to save the information.
  4. Delete profile
    Select a profile and click “Delete”.

Note: Restart the VMR service for any changes done.

  • Profiles: List of existing profiles.
  • IP Address/Host: Server hostname or IP address.
  • Port: Server port.
  • Network: TCP or UDP protocol.
  • Syslog Format: Select the appropriate format.
  • App Name: The name of the application or process that generated the message.
  • Message ID: ID to identify the message.
  • Severity: The severity level indicates how critical the event is, ranging from debug (least severe) to emergency (most severe).
  • Facility: The facility code indicates the type of program or part of the system that is generating the message (e.g., kernel, mail system).
